Bent Motorsports Shop Owner Teodora Nikolova Contact Person - David Beckett [email protected] Describe your first impressions of the place. Focus on descriptive language and making the reader picture where you are. My first impressions of my internship place are very good. It is a small shop in San Marcos but has everything you need. When you walk in there is front desk followed by an office past it to the left. This is my mentors office. Past this is the garage. Here you can find multiple cars some on lifts and some in pieces that are currently being built. Overall it is a great environment. Describe what you think a typical work day is like at this site. How big is the site? How many people work there? What is the atmosphere? Business? Business casual? A typical work day is coming into the shop at 9:00. Then starting on current projects that need to be done. Currently there is a 1967 Chevrolet truck and a Land Rover Defender currently being built. Then after working lunch is around 12:00. Then after lunch work continues. Approximately around 5:00 clean up starts. Making sure tools are back where they belong and making sure the shop is clean as possible. Then heading out and coming back the next day. The shop is not too big but its the right size to fit abut 5 cars. Only 2 people work here. The atmosphere is one that is very relaxed but one that can be more serious when work has to get done. Who will you interact with on a daily basis? Who will you “report” to? How often? In what protocol/fashion? On a daily basis I will be interacting with my mentor and another employee who works at the shop. I will constantly be checking in with my Mentor throughout the day for tasks to do as we will be working very closely. We will be checking in verbally throughout the day. What do you think the business's general work policies are (tardiness, absence, etc.)? My mentor stated to me that being on time for him was very important and that trying hard to learn new things and paying attention are things that he noticed and really valued. Describe the dress code. What does that mean to you? The Dress code is one that is very relaxed. I am allowed to wear what I want due to the fact the working in this environment clothes may get dirty. Overall still dressing normally in a casual environment but being aware of the environment I will be in. Please write a reflection about your Career Day experience. What do you expect the professional world there to be like? Overall my Career Day experience was very good. I learned how daily things run at the shop and the type of things that get done on a daily basis. Throughout the day I did a variety of things from helping put in a gas tank to cleaning the chassis of a car. Overall I believe that as I learn more I will be able to do more challenge things. I believe that in this professional environment things are more difficult as things have a deadline and problems have to be solved in order to continue to move forward. In what ways do you expect your high school classes and the skills you have learned to apply to this profession? I think all the classes have taken contribute to my knowledge. And with this knowledge base I believe I will be able to solve problems that are presented to me throughout my time at my internship.
