I learned about a lot of issues that I was very unaware of nbgh. When we were learning about this it was crazy to think about how many people are actually unaware of all the issues in their hometown. My group members in this project were Simon Cross, Sophia Mertz, Colin Vail, Elizabeth Tran, and Cole Lampro. For this project we tried to tackle the problem of Food Poverty. Towards the end we changed it a bit more towards the business side of things because when people do not have money they can not afford food. So we tried to help people get a job or education to get a job to in the end get food. I also learned more about collaboration. When you have a higher amount of people in your group it gets harder because most of the time each person wants to do things a certain way that maybe you do not want to do. But overall working with people is pretty good you can get more work done only with a little bit of trouble. While doing teamwork I learned more about collaboration, researching, and taking notes.
First we researched the problem to see the how big the problem actually was. This problem was actually massive so we decided to reduce the scale at which we approached this so we decided to work in only San Diego instead. After this we started to see graphs and percentages to see numbers of people experiencing poverty. We figured out that poverty had started increasing more since the 2000’s. Some of these graphs we used in our presentation to show numbers of people experiencing this problem. This helped me learn about researching because you cannot base of everything of one source because it is possible that, that the source is not reliable. This helped us not only learn about how many people actually experience this problem but also about how fortunate we are to have all these nice things and always have food on our tables. Although we used the internet for all our research we also had to work with each other to complete this project.
We then had to work with each other to complete our presentations. We made three presentations which we presented to our class about our problem and about our non profit organization idea. It was hard to come up with our original ideas because of all the different things everybody in the group wanted to do. Working with a big group is hard because somebody might want one thing and another group member want might another thing. Also communicating with your group members is hard sometimes because sometimes they are really into what they are doing and do not hear you. Next I had to take notes to know what to do later
Through the the different speakers that we had in class i really learned how to take notes and what to write down for later. I was able to complete and turn in my speaker papers in on time because of the good notes that I learned to take. I learned to take down the right information that i would need to know later. The speakers helped because i never really had to take down notes before. Before if i took down notes they were very light notes nothing very serious. We listened to a variety of different speakers which helped me take down notes on different people and what they were saying. I learned these and many other skills throughout this project.
I learned more about different skills while doing teamwork such as collaboration, researching, and not taking. By doling these skills and practicing them I got better at them. By taking notes I got better at it, and by collaborating I learned a little bit more about how to work more with other people. This all is important because I will continue to possibly use these skills for the rest of my life. And by getting better at them I will be more successful when I use them.
