The Rising Sun The next day a newspaper runs a story about Smith, Graham, and Connor’s actions as racist and also accuses them of using Police Brutality. The chief tells them the investigation is over but Smith isn’t satisfied. He has to make copies of the tapes for the department so he heads to the USC. There Smith meets an interesting women, Theresa Asakuma, a Japanese student who is an expert on computers and software manipulation. She is able to quickly point out that the tapes were copies. After securing copies of the tapes, Smith then picks up Connor from his golf game with several Japanese friends. These friends were of very high power and Connor was not pleased to leave. They decide to visit companies and industries involved with Nakamoto, in order to learn more about the killer's motives. After talking to several companies they decide to meet with U.S. Senator John Morton.Smith and Theresa then deduce that Eddie had been set up by the Japanese. They had altered the tapes to make him seem like the killer. They undo the changes done to the tapes, Senator Morton Turned out to be the real killer and Eddie had been just a witness. Connor and Smith decide to return to Smith’s apartment. When they get there they discover Eddie Sakamura, alive. The man who had actually been killed in the car crash was actually a Japanese security officer named Tanaka who had been in Eddie’s garage. He was searching for the tapes, before panicking from the police arriving and leaving in Eddie's car. The trio then confront Senator Morton. He confesses to his role in Cheryl Austin’s death. The senator then shoots himself in a bathroom. Soon afterward Ishiguro arrives to confront Eddie and the two detectives, making subtle threats to their lives. Eddie reacts very calmly. This made Connor believe that Eddie still possessed an original copy of the tape from the security cameras. Smith and Connor then travel to Eddie’s home, where they find him tortured to death. They believe it was ishiguro who was trying to find the location of the stolen tape. Connor then drops Smith off at his home. Smith realizes that Eddie had left the tape there in his home. Ishiguro's men arrive he quickly orders his babysitter to hide his daughter and herself in the upstairs bedroom. Connor sneaks back to Smith’s apartment with a bulletproof vest. This then turns into gun battle with the thugs. Smith is shot in the back, but the vest saved his life. The next day the Smith and Connor watch the tape that Eddie had left behind. Cheryl wasn't accidentally killed by Morton, but murdered by Ishiguro after Morton and Eddie left. They go to the Nakamoto Tower to apprehend Ishiguro. Conner radios the police dispatcher. He, knowing the Japanese, knows that they are monitoring the frequency and will be prepared for the arrest. They arrive and ishiguro is in a important meeting. They show the tape to everybody in the meeting. When Ishiguro sees that Japanese executives have all left the meeting room he commits suicide by jumping off the Nakamoto Tower. I think I would prefer to write a sequel to this book . Since John Connor is now older I would probably make a story of him during during his primetime as an officer. Smith would probably not be a part of it. He would probably not be a part of the police force then. I think it would be really cool to see a previous side to Connor since we just know him as an older wiser man. The story would be a case that he had worked and really shaped him. Possibly with a partner. I believe this would be really interesting to read. This book for me was very interesting and I really loved it. I really like the way things were described in this book by the author. I would totally recommend this book to a friend. This book is for sure one of the best books I have read.
I will be commenting on Micah Hacker and Dylan Lewis’s Posts.
